potassium hydroxide; triphenylphosphine in ethanol
Fe(CO)5 is added to a soln. of KOH (1/2) in absolute ethanol degassed under Ar for 0.5 h, after 1 h stirring at room temp. PPh3 is added and the closed reaction flask keeps at 70°C for 24 h with stirring under Ar.; cooling, filtn., washing of yellow solid (ethanol), then washing (water), dissolving (CH2Cl2), filtn. of soln., drying over Na2SO4, evapn. under reduced pressure, elem. anal.;
