aluminium trichloride in n-heptane (inert gas); soln. of Mn complex, indene and AlCl3 was refluxed for 3 h, mixt. was poured into chilled water, org. layer was extd. with water and to filtered aq. soln. was added NH4BF4; mixt. was evapd. to dryness, desired product was detected by IR in CH2Cl2 soln. of residue; org. layer was chromd. (Al2O3), yielding Mn2(CO)10,identified by IR and TLC;
