in benzene 14 d at room temp.; filtered, solvent evapd., liberation of byproduct, residue dissolved inhexane, dried in air, recrystn.;

in toluene byproducts: CO; soln. of Co4(CO)12 placed in three-neck round-bottomed flask flushed with CO, flask placed in heated oil bath, reaction carried out for approximately 48 h at 90 °C under continuous N2 stream and stirring; detd. by IR;

in solid gaseous Co complex decompd.;

in tetrahydrofuran Co4(CO)12 and PPN(NO2) were placed in a Schlenk tube under N2, THF was added via syringe, mixt. was refluxed for 2 h; solvent and Co(CO)3(NO) were removed under vac., unreacted Co4(CO)12 extd. with hexane, residue extd. with Et2O, PPN(Co6N(CO)15) was pptd. withhexane, residue was extd. with THF, filtered, PPN(Co(CO)4) pptd. with Et2O; all identified by IR spectra;
