sulfuric acid; iodine; magnesium in diethyl ether addn. of 1-bromohexane and I2 to Mg turnings suspended in ether, refluxing; slow addn. of n-hexylmagnesium bromide to trimethylborate in ether at -78°C, stirring overnight, cooling to 0°C, addn. of H2SO4, stirring (20 min at room temp.); extn. the aq. phase with ether, washing the organic phase with water andbrine, drying over MgSO4, filtration, concg. in vac.;
