amalgamated magnesium in tetrahydrofuran a soln. of PhMe2GeCl and Me3GeCl in THF was added to an excess of Mg amalgam, mixt. was stirred for 3 d at room temp.; reaction mixt. was decanted from the excess of Mg/Hg, hydrolyzed, extd.with ether, ext. dried over CaCl2, concd. under reduced pressure, residue was distilled;
