trimethylaluminum in pentamethylene byproducts: H2, CH4, isobutane; dissolving Al2((CH3)2CHCH2)4 in cyclopentane; cooling to -196°C;treating with Al(CH3)3; slow warming to room temperature; pptn. after 2h; stirring at 0°C for 10 h; filtn., Al was isolated as 8-hydroxyquinolate; Al((CH3)2CHCH2)3 was notisolated but decomposed after treating of the filtrate with H3O(1+);
