in 1,2-dichloro-ethane the ligand compd. was dissolved in hot 1,2-dichloroethane and powd. HgCl2 was added (molar ratio Hg:P = 1:2); after a few minutes the soln. cleared and it was allowed to cool; the crude product was filtered off and washed with Et2O; elem. anal.;

in tetrahydrofuran; dichloromethane a soln. of HgCl2 in THF was added to a soln. of the ligand in CH2Cl2; the soln. was reduced in vol. and a small amt. of Et2O was added; recrystn. from CH2Cl2/Et2O; elem. anal.;
