byproducts: CO; addn. of benzyl bromide, DMFA and benzene to Pd powder; heating, 130-150°C, 15h; filtering hot soln.; cooling to room temp.; addn. of Et2O; placing in refrigerator at 5°C; crystn.; filtration; washing (acetone/ethylether); drying; three times successively evapn. of filtrate to 2/3 of its volume, filtration of crystals, drying (20°C, 0.1 mmHg); evapn. of filtrate in a water bath; recrystn. (ethanol); elem. anal.;
