PPA; potassium iodide in sulfolane byproducts: I2; polyphosphoric acid, KI added into sulfolane, added Na2SO4 and (n-Bu4N)I, stirred under N2 for 17 h at 75°C; excess of polyphosphoric acid hydrolyzed with stirring for 0.5 h at 75°C, mixt. poured into C6H6, washed with H2O, dried, filtered, filtrate evapd., chromd. (SiO2, C6H6), recrystd. from C6H6/hexane;
