A soln. of I2 and AsF5 was stirred in SO2 at room temp. for 48 h, volatile components were slowly removed producing dark crystals, which form a red powder by grinding.; The red powder was dissolved in SO2, the crystals were obtained by slowly removal of the solvent.;
