CH3MgCl in diethyl ether; benzene
Norbornadiene-compound and Ph2CHCl are heated at 75°C for 4 h in benzene under Ar, methylation of Ph2CHCHPh2 and Ph2CHGeMe2Cl with MeMgCl in Et2O (stirring at 0°C for 0.5 h, followed by stirring for 1 h at room temp.).; addn. of H2O and NH4Cl, sepn. of organic and aq. phases, extn. of aq. phase (Et2O), removal of solvent, identification by GC-MS anal., further products are Me8Ge3, Me10Ge4, Me12Ge5 (yield: ca 5 percent);
