Addn. of a THF-soln. of o-(BrMgCH2)C6H4CH3 to FeCl2(P(OMe)3)3 suspn. (0°C, Ar, Schlenk flask). Color turns red then brown with formation of black ppt. Stirring (overnight, room temp.).; Removing of solvent under vac., dissolving of residue in pentane. On cooling white crystals of bis(o-methylphenyl)-1,2-ethane are obtained.;
