由2-甲基吡啶胺化而得。将液氨通入反应罐内，加入硝酸高铁，搅拌下分次缓缓加入小块金属钠，加毕继续搅拌3h。自然排氨，至反应液呈稀浆状，得氨钠液。将无水二甲苯加入氨钠中，搅拌升温，蒸除残留氨气。温度升至120℃滴加2-甲基吡啶，加毕，保持124-129℃反应10h。在90-100℃缓缓加入适量水水解，水解完搅拌半小时，静置分取二甲苯层，蒸馏回收二甲苯，然后减压蒸馏收集90-120℃（1.33-2.67kPa）馏分，即2-氨基-6-甲基吡啶。收率72%。 | |
