in carbon disulfide; water byproducts: S(x); CS2 soln. of S2Cl2 shaked with aq. KI soln. for 5 min, standing at 20°C for ca 15 min, org. phase sepd., washed with Na2S2O3 soln. (elimination of I2) various S contg. CS2 soln. sepd., dried with CaCl2, filtered,; concd. in vac. at 20°C to small volume, n-pentane added, oily by-products sepd., decanted soln. cooled to -78°C, S6 crystd. together with S8, purifn. repeated recrystn. from CS2 at -78°C give S6, all products sepd.;
