byproducts: POCl3, KCl, HCl; all manipulations under strict exclusion of moisture using standard grease-free vacuum line and Schlenk techniques; POCl3 added to mixt. of P compds. with stirring at 40°C, heated at 100°C for 3.5 h; product collected in cold trap (223 K); allowed to cool to ambient temp., filtered, fractional distn. on 400 mm vacuum-jacketed Vigreux column, distillate treated with Cu powder and P4O10 (for removing of traces of Cl2 and hydrogen halides);
