in tetrahydrofuran; benzene byproducts: octene (mixt. of isomers); To the soln. of PhPdI(PPh3)2 in benzene is added a soln. of trioctylborane in THF, mixt. is refluxed for 30 min.; GLC analysis is rect. mixt. using internal standard cyclooctane, yield of octane, octene, or octylbenzene are less than 1percent.;
